Trends in antibiotic therapy in infections of the biliary tract

According to their characteristics, biliary tract infections may be treated by purely medical therapy or by a combination of medical therapy with surgery. The correct and rational use of antibiotics will be effective in certain cases, while in others it creates the conditions for surgery to be performed under the most favorable circumstances. The authors discuss problems in the choice of the most appropriate chemotherapy.
