In vitro studies of Nothanguina phyllobia showed its rate of movement to be unaffected by O2 concentrations between 0.8 and 8.6 ppm. Below 0.8 ppm O2, activity decreased, ceasing altogether between 0.4 and 0.1 ppm. Activity increased as a linear function of temperature up to 24 deg C; above this temperature activity decreased. At 23 deg C, 50% mortality occurred within 7 days; at 4 deg C, 70% were still alive after 98 days.
