A 66 yr old woman had symptoms of polyarteriitis nodosa cutanea benigna on her feet for 2 yr and a serious hyperthyreosis for 30 yr needing continous treatment. There were no other signs of visceral blood vessel inflammation during examination. High values of antibody titers against thyreoidic microsome and positive results of antinuclear antibody reactions observed in treated condition suggest the autoimmune origin of hyperthyreosis. Ig in the dermal tissue were not detected by direct immunofluorescence. The vascular inflammation seems to be not due to autoimmune origin. The possibility and effects of simultaneous occurrence of the 2 diseases are discussed.
