Tests available for the functional diagnosis of small intestinal diseases in patients include those that determine disorders of digestion and absorption (steatorrhea), disorders of certain phases of digestion and intraluminal absorption (pancreatic and biliary) as well as excretory function, topographic localization of diseases of the jejunum and ileum.
