A total of 2466 blood pressure and bodyweight records of women attending family planning clinics in Sarawak, were analysed. The women were of mean bodyweight 47.3 kg and age 15 to 46, mean 28.5 years. There was a slight variation in average bodyweight between races, the Chinese at 51.8 kg being heavier than the Iban, Bidayuh or Malays at 46.6, 45.7 and 49.1 kg. The mean blood pressure of 500 women of mean age 28.3 years was systolic 90 to 150, mean 112.1 mm, and diastolic 60 to 90, mean 72.4 mm. It was lower than for western women, but that was associated with the tropical climate.
