Surface skin lipids in acne vulgaris

Numerous endogenous and exogenous factors were seen in pathogenesis of acne vulgaris including skin surface lipids and content free fatty acids. Skin surface fat was studied by absorption and analyzed by TLC and gas chromatography. TLC did not show any difference between amounts of free fatty acids in acne vulgaris and controls. Short chain free fatty acids increased in acne vulgaris patients.
