Considering the increasing number of pregnant women with cardiac valve prostheses, problems concerning the presence of such prostheses during pregnancy are briefly discussed. Problems concerning the prevention of thromboembolic complications by use of anticoagulants and of infectious complications on prosthesis by use of antibiotics are stressed. Operative protocols are suggested and discussed.
