Life table approach to the estimation of malaria parasite incidence rate in infants from longitudinal data

Life-table methodology was applied to parasitological data obtained during a WHO field trial of a new insecticide in Nyanza Province, Kenya, in order to estimate malaria parasite incidence rate in children. The observed rates of incidence in the different age groups and those estimated by the life-table method were quite close, although the life-table method tended to overestimate incidence rates.
