Work capacity of patients with endocrine diseases according to the Leningrad Industrial Medical Expert Commission

The paper analyzes work fitness of patients with endocrine diseases according to the data of the Leningrad Medical Expert Commission for Evaluation of Working Capacity. The patients incapacitated by endocrine diseases constituted 1.5% of all subjects recognized invalids for the 1st time. The structure of the invalidism because of endocrine diseases is as follows: diabetes mellitus 59%, diseases of the thyroid gland 18%, hypothalamo-hypophyseal diseases 16% and other diseases 7%. Of the patients, 43% were attributed to group I and II invalidism on first expert evaluation. Upon re-evaluation complete rehabilitation was attained in 2.7% and partial in 15% of the invalids. Invalidism assumed a more severe character in 14% of the patients examined.
