Ten healthy males were subjected to a laboratory test in which they were subjected to a basic physical load of 40 W on an ergometer. The influence of supplementary activity in the form of arithmetic tasks and passive breaks was examined as aggravating or relieving factors. Heart rate was 1 factor used as an indicator of stress. Total stress of parallel activity did not correspond to a simple summation of the stress action of each individual activity. Passive breaks modified the action of supplementary mental work.
