Selected clinical problems concerning prostaglandins [PG] are discussed including their mechanism and their effect on the cardiovascular system gastrointestinal tract, respiratory system and fetal circulation. PG participate in the most important metabolic processes in the organism. The role of PG in many pathological processes in which their deficiency or stress are of causative importance is emphasized. Attention is called to the possibility of PG use in treatment, e.g., in arterial hypertension and asthma.
