Physical mapping of simian adenoviruses

The genomic structures of 3 simian adenoviruses (simian adenovirus 7 strain C8 [SA7(c8)], simian virus 20 (SV20) and SV20 strain H [SV(H)]) were studied using restriction endonucleases. The number of fragments and the MW were determined by electrophoresis; physical (restriction) maps of SA7(c8), SV20 and SV20(H) DNA were constructed using EcoRI, HindIII, SalI, BglII, BamHI, HpaI, HindII and SmaI. The degree of homology between these DNA was determined by heteroduplex analysis and on the basis of distribution of recognition sites for specific endonucleases.
