Individual patient-doctor contact in a psychiatric ward

All contacts between the doctor and the patient which had taken place over 3 1/2 mo. in the doctor's consulting room, were recorded for evaluation. Most talks had a duration of 15-45 min; on the average, there was about 1 contact per week. The incidence rate of the contacts depended on the clinical organization and on the patient's disease pattern. Methodically speaking, these contacts should be classified as focal problem-centered short-term psychotherapy.
