Intravascular coagulation in paroxysmal nocturnal hemoglobinuria

The results of examinations aimed at disclosing intravascular coagulation that leads in some cases to development of thromboses in patients with paroxysmal nocturnal hemoglobinuria are presented. In these patients an increased content of high molecular fibrinogen derivatives, a lowered content of antithrombin III and hypersensitivity of thrombocytes to ADP and epinephrine were revealed. The data obtained are important in disclosing the pathogenetic mechanisms of thromboses observed in that disease.
