The antigenic relatedness between the toxins of E. coli strains causing diarrhea in adults (334A, O15H11) and infants (0128B12) was studied. A close similarity was observed between the heat labile enterotoxins of the 2 strains; no such activity was noticed between the heat stable fractions, because this fraction failed to produce any antibody response as studied by passive hemagglutination, and immunodiffusion techniques.
