Pelvic lipomatosis is a rare benign disease with excessive growth of fatty tissue in the pelvis. The etiology is unknown and the disease most frequently affects men. The symptoms and objective findings are uncharacteristic while characteristic radiographic findings occur: increased radiotranslucency in the pelvis, characteristic reversed pear-shape and elevation of the bladder and compressed, stretched rectum with a vertical course. Pelvis lipomatosis may progress and result in obstruction of the ureters necessitating surgical treatment. Patients with pelvic lipomatosis should be controlled regularly with renography, glomerular filtration rate and cystoscopy.
