Studies of 105 patients undergoing treatment for obliterating endarteritis and catecholamine contents were determined and effectiveness of treatment was evaluated for each stage. Data indicated important pathogenic significance of disturbances of the medullar layer and the adrenal cortex in the development of OE. The dependence of increased concentration of adrenaline on the stage of the disease was revealed. After treatment, normalization was observed only at early stages of the disease. Later, the reactivity of the sympathetic-adrenal system changed and, even in cases of effective treatment, normalization of catecholamine content did not occur. A high activity of the hormonal adrenal link of the adrenal-sympathetic system occurred at all stages of the disease while the sympathetic activity remained comparatively inhibited. The level of 17-OCS in blood was decreased in all cases and a tendency toward normalization was observed after treatment in stages I and II. More effective measures aimed at increasing corticoid concentration were recommended for patients in stage III of the disease.
