An infant aged 1 1/2 mo. was hospitalized following an episode of mild hypothermia, shock, CO2 retention and severe acidosis. Investigation of renal function 6 h after the episode of hypothermia revealed significant reduction in glomerular filtration rate, tubular reabsorption of phosphate and urinary concentration capacity. Tubular Na reabsorption was normal.
