The allografting of tooth germs was carried out experimentally on 2 mo. old puppies using immunodepressive drugs. Radiologic, immunologic and histochemical examinations showed that only weak immune reactions appearing after 2-3 mo. of latency were evoked by recipients in response to such transplantations. The primordia were healed, grew and developed into mature organs, i.e., the teeth. Periodontium and dentogingival commissures were formed and pulpar cell structure was maintained. Clinical observations of 16 children, to whom allogenic tooth germs were grafted, were carried out. In 14 cases, the tooth primordia grew, developed and matured into functionally normal teeth. Some of them could even be used as points of fixation serving for removable dental prostheses.
