Grammar disorders in aphasics' narrative speech and their treatment

Tasks to rehabilitate grammatical correctness and complexity and tasks to rehabilitate communicative ability were applied concomitantly to 35 aphasics, while only communicative ability tasks were used in 45 aphasics. Communicative ability, grammatical complexity performance and grammatical correctness performance were tested prior to and after therapy in 6 narrative answers to a standard interview. The group with mixed therapy (communication + grammar) yielded better results than the group with communication therapy alone, not only grammatically, but also in point of communicative ability. This additional progress in communicative ability depends on the progress in grammatical correctness and not on that in grammatical complexity.
