The effects of autologous bone grafting on bone healing after carpal arthrodesis in the dog

Arthrodesis was performed on the right and left carpus of eight dogs, incorporating a fresh autologous cancellous bone graft in the right carpus. Histological evaluation of each carpus after the procedure demonstrated that although the grafted bone appeared dead, healing was improved after 12 weeks.
