Neonatal patients (67) with flaccid paralysis of the arm were observed. In addition to the paralysis, the children suffered from damage of the cervical spinal cord, torticollis, paresis of the diaphragm, Horner's triad, pyramidal symptoms.sbd.and brain stem symptoms pointing to disturbances of the vertebro-basilar circulation (secondary asphyxia, choking during feeding, aphonia, nystagmus). All symptoms indicated spinal genesis of flaccid paralysis of the arm, and not plexitic. Early diagnosis of the site of affection and rational complex treatment gave favorable results in 63 patients.
