The antibodies titers in blood were determined in adult dysentery patients using the reaction of passive hemagglutination and the mercaptoethanol test. The virulence of Shigella freshly isolated strains was also determined using the keratoconjunctival test and cell culture. A decrease in antibody formation is observed in excretors of virulent Shigella. The decrease was more pronounced in fraction 7S. An assumption is advanced on a possible effect of virulent Shigella on formation and realization of immune memory.
