Fever of unknown origin. Study of 56 cases. I: Etiological, clinical and biological analysis

Cases (56) of fever of unknown origin were reported. The patient distribution according to etiology was: infections, 23 cases (41%); collagen diseases, 9 cases (16%); neoplasms, 8 cases (14%); diverse, 11 cases (19%); and 5 cases of undetermined origin. Several parameters were analyzed and discussed for these patients including age, sex, course before hospitalization, fever type, symptoms and signs, analytical changes and final diagnosis.
