Deoxycorticosterone characteristic of DOC-induced benign hypertension even in the absence of Na from drinking water. There are 2 possible mechanisms through which ADH might raise BP: by expanding plasma volume and by acting as a vasoconstrictor agent directly affecting the arterial walls. However, vasopressin does not seem necessary to maintain hypertension, since ADH excretion was normal during the metacorticoid phase.
