Fluorine in selected samples from domestic market

F level in brew of various types of marketed tea, coffee and its substitutes and certain herb teas was determined. The brews were prepared according to the producers instructions on the labels. F was determined in the brews by potentiometry using an ionoselective electrode. The level of soluble F ranged from 52-210 mg/kg in tea blends, 28-72 mg/kg in coffee blends and its substitutes and 16-60 mg/kg in herb teas. The daily requirements for F apparently were covered by the daily intake of tea and coffee. Intake of tea and coffee brews containing high amounts of F can in certain cases constitute a threat to human health.
