Pharmaceutical use of some activated bentonites

The adsorption capacity of nitrazepam and oxazepam on Romanian bentonites (from Valea Chioarului) activated with NaHCO3 was investigated by the liquid phase adsorption isotherm method. The amount of adsorbed substance was measured by UV spectrophotometry. The adsorption isotherm is of Langmuir type. The derivatograms and IR spectra of nitrazepam and oxazepam bentosorbates were recorded. The dehydration kinetics were investigated; the activation energies are 5.79 kcal/mol and 6.18 kcal/mol, respectively.
