The diagnostic value of abdominocentesis with lavage was reported in 178 patients with blunt injuries of the abdomen who were treated at the Traumatological Department of the Faculty Hospital and policlinic in Kosice, Czechoslovakia, between 1971-1978. Its significance for the diagnosis of massive peritoneal hemorrhage for rapid and reliable examination is discussed.
