Etomidate (Hypnomidate; Ethnor (Janssen)) in propylene glycol was used for induction of anesthesia in 25 patients requiring cardiac surgery, and the effects on pulse and blood pressure were measured. Etomidate is a suitable induction agent for open-heart surgery.
