Six workers of the apron-demolding department of an iron foundry were studied by Holter's dynamic ECG method to identify aspects of physical overload, particularly of the heart, due to interaction of work-related factors, i.e., muscular effort, heat stress, noise and CO pollution. The problem of the jolly in situations requiring considerable physical effort under elevated heat stress became particularly evident from the study. Suggestions are made to improve the working environment and the organization of work and to survey the workers' health to eliminate or diminish stress and risk.
