Spermatogenically active testis of R. kinnaeri challenged by a single sub-lethal dose of CdCl2 displayed marked and drastic changes in seminiferous epithelium, Leydig tissues and blood capillaries. Degenerative changes followed by necrosis of germ cells and interstitial tissues led to complete breakdown of seminiferous tubules. Extensive hemorrhage of blood capillaries occurred by day 7; none survived effects of CdCl2. Cytological derangements involved in initial stages were pycnosis, followed by cytolysis and chromatolysis. No rebound recovery occurred.
