The authors observed and treated 3 patients with a transverse rupture of the pancreas. All the patients had associated traumas resulting from severe compression of the body (1), automobile crush (1) and a blow to the abdomen. The exact diagnosis of a complete transverse rupture of the pancreas was made during surgical operation which confirms difficulties of the diagnosis of such injuries. All the patients were subjected to resection of the left half of the pancreas with suturing the stump and pancreatic duct by the II-shaped sutures. The results were favourable.
