For 17 black, 94 white and 59 Indian patients, height, weight, age and details of coronary angiograms were recorded. According to the results the patients were divided into groups reflecting the degree of arterial disease. Of the patients 94% had significant occlusive lesions involving 1 or more vessels. Frequency of single and double vessel disease was similar in each racial group. Cholesterol values of the white patients were correlated with the severity of coronary artery disease. Hypercholesterolaemia was the only risk factor common to all racial groups.
