The experience of treatment of 516 patients with the varicose disease of the lower extremity veins in the stage of trophic disorders has convinced the author that operation is the only reliable method of rehabilitation of the above group of patients. The author believes that the subfascial access should be used for the ligation of perforating veins. The remote results were favourable: no recurrent ulcers, regression of trophic lesions in 52% and the disappearance of the lesions in 24% of patients observed for 2--6 years after the operation.
