Enzyme variability in local populations of Drosophila species

In investigations in the laboratory in Kerala, India, on 6 local species of Drosophila, dimeric acid phosphatases were found to be coded by allelic variants of a single autosomal gene. Esterases revealed allelic as well as non-allelic polymorphism. The allelic frequencies and proportions of heterozygosity at the polymorphic loci are described.
