This procedure was performed upon 51 patients with an average cumulative patency rate of 83% at 2 yr. There were 4 infections which necessitated graft removal. Aneurysmal dilation was not encountered, and while the graft was occasionally used immediately, it was usually 7 days before the grafts were used for dialysis. In the few grafts in which early difficulties were encountered, the problem could usually be traced to failure to adhere to the operative protocol.
