Serum proteins among Ugandans

Electrophoresis was used to separate and quantitate serum proteins into albumin, alpha 1-, alpha 2-, beta - and gamma -globulins from 102 Ugandan men and women blood donors between 15 and 45 years old. The correlation between alpha 1-globulin and age was 0.98 and the correlation between albumin and alpha 1- or albumin and gamma -globulin was 0.41 and 0.62, respectively. The possible reference ranges of these indices are presented.
