In summary, radial access is becoming increasingly adopted for PCI in all settings including AMI, due to its comparable procedural success and reduced access-site complications. This may be associated with reduced morbidity and mortality, particularly in the setting of primary or rescue PCI due to the intensity of antithrombotic therapy and the higher risk of bleeding. Although the majority of patients will benefit from a transradial approach, patient selection is important as is experience of the operator and catheter laboratory staff.
