A case study of three patients with damaged (fractured) Implanons is presented. The event is relatively uncommon and is unlikely to cause any major problems even if undetected prior to its removal. Because of its infrequent occurrence it is impossible to accumulate large enough case series to study its consequences, and is probably unnecessary. Whether Nexplanonk (the next-generation sub-dermal birth control device) will experience this concern, remains to be seen.
