The structural alterations occurring in the human cerebrovascular network from some cerebro-vascular accidents infarcts and hemorrhages, were investigated. The structural alterations were apparently of a degenerative type (reticulin proliferation, dissociation of vascular coils or pleated and cloisonne-like wall appearance, microaneurysms and intense reaction of arachnoid membranes). This pathological aspects refer to the arteriolar and pre-capillary systems in regions situated far from the respective hemorrhagic focus or infarct and even in the contralateral hemisphere. The structural alterations of general microcirculation of the encephalon apparently preceded the acute accident or even contributed to its occurrence. No significant differences were found between the structural alterations of small vessels in the heimsphere with the focus (infarct or hemorrhage) and those in the symmetrically opposite regions of the intact hemisphere.
