Trypsin treatment of Zajdela ascitic hepatoma cells results in destruction of outer perimembrane layers (glycocalyx), which is manifested in release of their proteins and carbohydrates. The process is accompanied by reduction of alcian blue sorption by the cell surface and decrease of cell viability.
