Different serological techniques used for serodiagnosis are discussed: enzyme linked immunosorbent assay; thin layer immunoassay; indirect hemagglutination test; and various agar gel methods. A table is given of commercial sources of reagents for diagnositc tests for parasitic diseases. For the optimal utilization of available control methods, basic information on the prevalence and distribution of the parasite is required. Once a program is initiated, the effect of control measures must be monitored, using immunologic tests for surveillance. In the section on experimental parasitology, experiments with Schistosomatium douthitti are discussed.
