Meats, egg yolk, and cereals proved to be the commercially prepared baby foods having the highest concentrations of iron, copper, and zinc. Dry cereals provided the highest concentrations of iron, averaging 71 mg. per 100 gm. Strained fruits showed the lowest iron concentration. Fruits, vegetables, and meats were fairly equivalent in copper content, with respective group averages of 0.04, 0.06, and 0.05 mg per 100 gm. Strained meats had the highest zinc concentrations, with a group average of 2.2 mg per 100 gm. Strained fruits and vegetables had low zinc concentrations. Cereals and vegetables were the best sources of magnesium and manganese.
