Cellular activity in rabbit radius fractures is studied and observed by EM. After fracture polymorphonuclear neutrophils, macrophages, fibroblasts, chondroblasts and osteoblasts and osteocytes appear at the fracture site in succession. They represent the following stages of fracture healing: inflammatory stage, debridement stage, fibrous callus stage, primary bony callus stage and secondary bony callus stage. Fibroblasts participate in and possess the action of osteogenesis.
