A 9 yr old girl is presented with acetabular dysplasia, subluxation and a marginal cyst indicative of osteoarthritis usually found in much older patients. Serial roentgenograms and hip arthrograms are employed to demonstrate progressive degeneration of the hip joint. Histology of the surgically excised cyst reveals necrosis, fibroblastic infiltration, old hemorrhages and extensive bone remodeling at the periphery. Cancellous bone from the iliac crest is packed into the cyst to restore normal weight-bearing function.
