Lactase deficiency in osteoporosis

Women diagnosed as having postmenopausal idiopathic osteoporosis were tested to determine if lactase deficiency contributed to the condition. Eight times as many patients were lactose deficient as the control group. Lactase deficient women had lower intake of calcium and lactose, either because of intolerance or low absorption.
