The antibody-mediated cellular cytotoxicity in human peripheral blood (ADCC) was studied. The method include 51Cr-labeled chicken red cells (as target cells), rabbit anti-chicken red cell antibodies and human lymphoid cells (as effector cells). The parameters influencing cytotoxicity, i.e., antiserum dilution, relationship between target- and effector cells, and incubation time were established. This technique was applied to 2 human populations.sbd.healthy children and adults.sbd.and ADCC was related to the percent of cells with Fc+ receptors, although the ratio of such cells was different in both populations studied. The presence of Fc+ cells was suggested in the children's population which were not capable of exerting this type of cytotoxicity.
