Depression of blood monocytes chemotaxis in human chronic Chagas disease

Studies were made of the migration of human monocytes towards a filtrate of Escherichia coli in vitro. Blood monocytes from 17 patients with chronic Chagas' disease, showed a tendency to migrate 40% below that of 11 normal individuals. The presence of myocardiopathy in some of the Chagas' patients did not influence the results obtained. Serum from Chagasic patients did not influence the migration of monocytes from normal persons.
