Hygienic, physiological, clinical, biochemical, statistical and experimental studies characterizing the mechanism of adaptation and changes in some body systems are presented. The latter were particularly manifest in the child population. Among the factors facilitating human adaptation to unfavorable conditions of the extreme north, the living conditions (housing, water supply, food) and working conditions are important. Their structure and nature must correspond to the specific dwelling conditions in the extreme north. Elucidation of how some body systems of workers respond to seasonal and circadian features permitted recommendations for optimization of working conditions, corrections in water supply, house planning, food, etc., for different population groups.
