To evaluate the degree of radiation hazard for space flights, a satellite measured the absorbed radiation doses in the inner Van Allen belt. The maximum dosage was determined. In the center of the inner radiation belt, dose level remained approximately constant and behind shield thicknesses of 3.5 and 1 g/cm2 was equal to 1 and 1.4 mrad/s, respectively.
